A seventh minute goal by Bassem Morsy proved to be the difference between the two teams on Sunday in Port Harcourt.
Aigbogun said it was unfortunate they lost as he believed they dominated the game.
“We dominated the game and deserved to win but it was unfortunate we lost but we played well,” he said.
However, the coach was also gracious in defeat as he admitted Zamalek also played well.
“Credit to them they played and defended, well but we dominated the game,” he said.
“We should also understand that they aren’t a bad team.”
The defeat puts Enyimba third in Group B after the first round of matches with Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa top of the standings with three points, Zamalek second, while Entente Setif from Algeria are bottom.
