Information making its way to African Football.com is that former Black Leopards defender Harry Nyirenda is close to completing his switch to Mighty Wanderers.

This comes after the centre back is reported to have been training with the Malawian Premier League side - after parting ways with the South African National First Division outfit.

According to the Nyasa Times website, the Flames international is looking for a club, as he is eager to continue with his football career.

Speaking to the Malawian publication, Wanderers General Secretary Mike Butao could not deny or confirm the reports; only saying an official announcement will be communicated in due course.

“Yes we have been in discussion with the player. He is our son and he is free to return home if no deal materialises in South Africa where he has been for the past six years or so,” said Butao.

“However we ask for patience until we announce the official news regarding the player.”

Nyirenda played for Wanderers for a number of years before joining Lidoda Duvha and has been a regular for the Malawi national team since then.

Despite their failure to regain promotion back to the Absa Premiership, the 25-year-old has been a vital cog for the Thohoyandou-based side.
