ASEC Mimosas will target a revenge victory over ZESCO United when the teams meet at the Stade Robert Champroux in Abidjan for a matchday four CAF Champions League clash on Wednesday afternoon.
The teams met in Ndola on July 16 and the Zambians claimed a 3-1 home victory thanks to goals from Jackson Mwanza, John Ching’andu and Idriss Mbombo, while a lacklustre ASEC could only reply through youngster Youssouf Dao.
The result saw ZESCO move clear into second place on the Group A standings, just a point behind leaders Wydad Casablanca, while ASEC are third on three points and cannot afford another loss if they are to remain in contention for a semifinal place.
The Ivorians’ only home match in the group took place last month and saw them beaten 1-0 in Abidjan by Wydad, while ZESCO’s only away game was a loss to the same opposition in Morocco.
Group A’s other match this midweek sees Wydad host ailing Egyptian giants Al Ahly in Rabat on Wednesday evening.
Bernard Camille of the Seychelles will take charge of the match in Abidjan.
