South Africa U20 international Liam Jordan has signed for Portuguese Primeria Liga side Sporting Clube de Portugal, his agent confirmed on Monday evening.

Glyn Binkin tweeted: "Congratulations to TPC client Liam Jordan on signing for Sporting Lisbon.I know Kerryn is proud of him right now."

The 18-year-old joins the Portuguese giants on-loan for the 2016-17 season from Premier Soccer League outfit Bidvest Wits, with the option to buy.

Jordan, son of the late South African international striker Kerryn Jordan, made his debut for Bidvest Wits at the age of 16, but has mostly played for the club's MultiChoice Diski Challenge team over the past two seasons.

He, though, has been a regular for the country's youth teams and scored in home and away wins over Lesotho as Amajita successfully qualified for the African Youth Championship last month.

Sporting finished last season as runners-up to fierce rivals Benfica in Portugal's top flight.

Currently coached by Jorge Jesus, 10 of the 14 players used by Portugal in the 2016 Euro's final came through the club's youth academy; including Cristiano Ronaldo, Nani and Ricardo Quaresma.
