Algeria came close to opening the scoring in the 12th minute when Baghdad Bounedjah skipped past two defenders and fired a ferocious shot goalwards, but he was superbly denied by keeper Luis Aurelio Lopez.
A minute later Honduras took the lead when Rommel Quioto found himself in the right spot to tap home from close range after an initial stop from the Algerian keeper, 1-0.

Algeria looked to have pulled a goal back six minute into the second half, but Ayoub Abdellaoui’s goal was disallowed due to him being in an off-sides position.
The North Africans continued to push forward and did find their first goal of the Olympics in the 68th minute when Sofiane Bendebka headed home a pass from Baghdad Bounedjah, 2-1.
Ten minutes later Honduras restored their two goal advantage when a mistake in defence gifted Anthony Lozano the ball on the edge of the box and he duly fired home to make it 3-1.
Algeria did not give up hope and scored their second goal in the 85th minute after Baghdad Bounedjah latched onto a cross from Raouf Benguit, and after a fine first touch fired the ball into the net, 3-2.
