Colombia deserved their win as they were the hungrier of the two teams as Nigeria never really got going after they had booked their place in the knockout rounds with a game to spare

90+3 - Colombia win 2-0 and they make history by making it past the group stage

90+2 - Colombia come close to adding a third goal as Akpeyi fails to hold on to a low cross, corner to Colombia

90+1 - There will be three minutes of added time as Colombia  are still winning 2-0

88 - Etebo has been forced out by injury and Nigeria will finish this game with 10 players as they have exhausted their substitutions

This game looks very much lost and won - won by Colombia and lost by Nigeria

86- Pabon out, Machado in for Colombia

82 - The game is held up for the medics to attend to injured Etebo

80 - We are now inside the final 10 minutes and Nigeria get a free kick after Imoh Ezekiel is kicked around the Colombia box

79 - Nigeria change - Stanley Amuzie in, Kingsley Madu out. It's Nigeria's final substitution

78 - Wilmar Barrios out, Sebastien Perez in for Colombia

77 - Colombia attack again but it is offside

Nigeria have less than 15 minutes to rescue this game...

74 - Big miss by Colombia! It should have been 3-0 but Harold Preciado fails to directs his shot on goal after he controls a long ball that beat the Nigeria defender completely

72 - Colombia change - Kevin Balanta out, Jefferson Lerma in

70 - Nigeria make two changes in a swoop - Imoh Ezekiel for Aminu and Usman Mohammed for Popoola Saliu

69 - Kevin Balanta of Colombia is booked for a late tackle

Nigeria are gradually losing grip of this game and must step up if they really wish to get something out of this encounter

62 - GOAL! Colombia 2 Nigeria 0 , Pabon scores from the penalty spot

61 - PENALTY! Colombia have a big chance to double their lad after Akpeyi is booked for fouling a striker inside the box

60 - An hour played and it remains Colombia 1 Nigeria 0, somehow the South Americans have held out against the firepower of the Africans

55 - A goalmouth melee that could have resulted in a goal for Nigeria but somehow Colombia clear their lines eventually

53- Azubuike Okechukwu is booked for a late challenge

50 - The other match in this group, Sweden vs Japan is still goalless thus far

48 - Nigeria win a corner, in the end Etebo is flagged offside

46 - Nigeria restart the game

45 +1 - End of first half with the South Americans leading 1-0

In the end it is a disappointing attempt by Colombia to add to their tally

43 - BOOKING - Ekong is booked for a late tackle around his own penalty area, free kick Colombia

42 - Free kick Nigeria after Mikel is fouled

40 - Goal kick to Nigeria as another Colombia attack breaks down

38 - Ekong fouls in his half, free kick to Colombia

36 - Akpeyi makes an easy save

Nigeria are still very much in this game as long as the scores remain like this

31 - Goalkeeper Bonilla blocks Etebo's free kick for a throw-in still in Colombia half

30 - Half an hour played and it remains Colombia 1 Nigeria 0, as Nigeria's Sadiq wins a free kick in a very good position

28 - Etebo flashes his shot wide from inside the box after he was set up by Sadiq. A missed chance for Nigeria, most certainly

Colombia have really been dangerous when they attack the African champions

25 - Darlon Pabon wastes a chance to double Colombia lead after he chips beyond the diving Akpeyi, but the effort is way off the mark

24 - Good passing spell by Nigeria, but Colombia win the ball in their own half of the pitch

22 - Nigeria force another corner as they  attack in search of an equaliser

19 - Big save by Akpeyi to deny Colombia a second goal. The South Africa-based shot stopper dived full length to scoop away a goal-bound header by Borja. It was very, very close!

18 - Colombia win a corner after an Aminu timely tackle right inside the box

16 - Nigeria on the attack again

13 - Colombia striker shoots at goal of Nigeria more in hope than any other thing and it is off target

9 - Goal scorer Guiterrez loses his footing from inside the Nigeria box, a big relief to Samson Siasia's side

7 - Nigeria are now attacking in search of an equalising goal

If the scores stood like this till the end, Colombia will qualify for the quarterfinal along with group winners Nigeria

Captain Teofilo Guiterrez fires past Nigeria goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi for the opening goal of the night. It is his third goal of the competition

4 -GOAL! Colombia score

3 - Nigeria's Sadiq Umar is fouled in a very good position

2 - Nigeria attack but Colombia defend well

1 - Kick-off

Unlike Manaus, which was hot and humid, Sao Paulo is a bit chilly and so the spectators are putting on some warm clothing

This will be the first-ever meeting between Nigeria and Colombia at the Olympics

The other game in the group is between Sweden and Japan, who both have a point apiece, and it is being played at the same time

Colombia are second in Group B with two draws and need to win to reach the last eight

Nigeria have already won the group  after winning their first two matches

The other two changes are Sadiq Popoola and Effiong Ndifreke

Samson Siasia has made five changes to his starting XI against Colombia with goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi, Kingsley Madu and Umar Aminu starting for the first time at the Rio Olympics
