Nigeria’s leading scorer at the Rio Olympics Oghenekaro Etebo is shattered he will miss tomorrow’s semi-final against Germany but hopes to be fit for the Gold medal match should the country reach that stage of the competition.
"It hurts the player to sit out without participating against a team like Germany. But the doctor has told him he won't be fit for the Wednesday match. The player has told some of his colleagues it pains him to miss both the quarter-final and now the semi-final too,” a team official told AfricanFootball.com
"He said he would be in full prayers to support his team to achieve victory.
“Etebo is very sure that his guys will beat Germany in the semi-final.
“He is also hoping to get back to action in the final."
Portugal-based forward Etebo netted four goals in the team’s opening game against Japan, but he hurt his hamstrings in the final group game against Colombia and so missed the quarterfinal against Denmark.
