Blow for PSL clubs as Steven Pienaar completes Sunderland switch

English Premier League side Sunderland have announced the signing of Steven Pienaar on a one-year deal.

The news comes as a huge blow Premier Soccer League sides Mamelodi Sundowns, Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates with the 'Big Three' of South African football all linked with the former Bafana Bafana captain in the off-season.

The 34-year-old, who was released by Everton at the end of last season, reunites with David Moyes at the Black Cats. Pienaar has made 199 English top flight appearances, netting 20 goals.
