DR Congo giants TP Mazembe will look to secure top spot in Group A of the CAF Confederation Cup when they host Tanzania’s Young Africans in Lubumbashi on Tuesday, kick-off at 14H30 CAT.
Mazembe are already sure of their place in the semifinals, having secured 10 points thus far, but they come into this final group matchday looking to ensure that they remain ahead of Ghana’s Medeama – the only team which can displace them.
The DR Congo side will also be looking for something of a redemptive victory, having gone down 3-2 in Ghana in their last Confed match just a week and a half ago.
As for Yanga, they are officially out of contention for the semifinals after picking up just four points, though they head to Lubumbashi high on confidence after a 1-0 win over Algeria’s MO Bejaia in Dar Es Salaam earlier this month.
When TP Mazembe and Young Africans met in Tanzania back in June, the DR Congo visitors came away with a narrow 1-0 win thanks to a goal from Merveille Bokadi.
The match at the Stade TP Mazembe will be refereed by Angolan official Helder Martins de Carvalho.
