Nigeria midfielder John Ogu has said he hopes his Israeli club are drawn against mighty Manchester United in the group stage of the UEFA Europa League.
The draw of the second-tier Europa League will be staged today and Ogu said he will relish testing himself against glamour club Manchester United complete with top-profile manager Jose Mourinho and his super stars, from Ibrahimovic to Wayne Rooney.
“Please @EuropaLeague, kindly help my club Hapoel Be’er Sheva with @ManUtd in group stage. Thank you very much,” Ogu tweeted.
“…playing against Utd will be a dream come true.”
Israeli champions Hapoel Be’er Sheva were just a goal short from reaching the group stage of the more prestigious Champions League when they lost out 5-4 on aggregate to Scottish champions Celtic in the playoffs.
Celtic won the first leg 5-2 at home before Ogu’s club won 2-0 in the reverse fixture when a 3-0 win would have catapulted them to the mini-league rounds of the richest club competition.
Ogu admitted it "still hurts more" watching Thursday’s Champions League draw without his Israeli club.
