Mali overcame a stubborn Benin side in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier on Sunday night.
The West African side thumped the Squirrels of Benin 5-2 in a Group C encounter at the Stade du 26 Mars in Bamako
The Eagles of Mali booked their place at next year's AFCON finals as Group C winners with 16 points - five ahead of second-placed Benin.
The home dominated the first-half and they were leading 3-1 at half-time. Moussa Doumbia, Sambou Yatabare and Abdoulay Diaby had netted for Mali.
While Federic Gounongbe, who plies his trade in England for Championship side Cardiff City, had snatched a goal for Benin towards the end of the first-half.
But goals from Adama Traore and Moussa Doumbia extended Mali's lead to 5-1. A late goal by Stephane Sessegnon proved to be consolation for Benin.
