This afternoon’s Manchester Derby could well see Nigeria star Kelechi Iheanacho fully establish himself in the English Premier League, according to former City star Trevor Sinclair.
Manchester City will be without Argentina striker Sergio Aguero and many tip 19-year-old Iheanacho to lead the team’s attack at Old Trafford.
Last season, Iheanacho fired eight goals in 26 appearances in the Premier League.
He has yet to get off the mark this season in two appearances.
But the Nigeria striker’s confidence must have been boosted after his late wonder goal gave the Super Eagles a home win over Tanzania at the weekend.
Former Manchester City star Trevor Sinclair said he expects Iheanacho to make the most of his chance in one of the biggest derbies in world football.
“This (derby) could be the making of Kelechi Iheanacho,” tipped former England winger Sinclair.
“His link-up play is good and last season, he had a splendid time.”
"He's a young centre-forward, a cool guy and his finishing is superb."
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho himself had hinted that in Aguero’s absence, rival coach pep Guardiola could also start Iheanacho.
Kick-off time at Old Trafford is 12.30pm Nigerian time.
