Mamelodi Sundowns and Zamalek will go head-to-head in the 2016 Caf Champions League final after the White Knights held on by the skin of their teeth, edging Wydad Casablanca 6-5 o aggregate over two-legs.

Leading 4-0 after the opening semifinal in Alexandria, the White Knights were clear favourites to progress to next month's showpiece heading into the reverse fixture in Rabat on Saturday.

The Egyptians, though, were dealt a major scare as Rouges et Blancs came within touching distances of what would have been an historical comeback.

After 19 minutes, Wydad had already pulled two goals back with William Jebor and Ismail El Haddad on target for the hosts - the fans packed inside the Complexe Sportif Moulay al Hassan started to believe.

But, Bassin Morsi would put a damper on celebrations as he netted a vital away goal for the visitors; nodding in from close range in the 36th minute.

Wydad, though, would restore their lead through Liberia international and new-signing Jebor in first-half stoppage time, 3-1 at the interval.

A quick fire brace from Fabrice N'Guessi Ondama, who found the back of the net on two occasions in eight minutes, put Wydad in control as they went in search of the goal that would swing the tie in their favour.

Despite their efforts, Zamalek would hold on as Stanley Nka Ohawuchi put the result beyond any doubt in the 81st minute. The five-time champions will renew their rivalry with Mamelodi Sundowns in the final - the Brazilians beat Zamalek home and away during the group stages of this season's tournament.

The final will be played over two-legs, scheduled for the weekend of the 14-16th and 21st-23rd of October 2016.
