Dazzling Ifeanyi Matthew has said he hopes the fortunes of his Norwegian club Lillestrom improve soon after they lost at home.
The 19-year-old midfielder crowned an outstanding first start with a superbly taken goal from 20 metres in front of the home fans against Sogndal on Sunday.
However, Lillestrom fell 2-1 to worsen relegation fears.
“I scored but it was a bad match for us because we lost. It was a big disappointment,” Ifeanyi Matthew told Lillestrom TV.
“But I hope that for the next game, we will win.”
The former Nigeria U17 and U20 international and compatriot Innocent Bonke bossed the midfield on Sunday.
“Yes, it was good playing with Bonke because we played together back in Nigeria and so we have a good understanding,” the former Kano Pillars star remarked.
He said of his super second-half strike: “It was a very good goal because we do a lot of shooting in training and it paid off in the game.”
