Nigeria stars Ifeanyi Matthew and Innocent Bonke Saturday inspired struggling Norwegian club Lillestrom to an all-important 2-1 win at Stabaek.
It was Lillestrom first win in five matches and they now have 26 points from as many matches, just a point behind Stabaek, who are in the relegation playoff bracket.
Midfielder Bonke assisted for Lillestrom’s opening goal in the 35
th minute, before compatriot Ifeanyi Matthew created the opening for the second goal in the 51
st minute.
Former Kano Pillars star Ifeanyi Matthew thus followed up on his first goal in Norway from last weekend against Songdal.
The home team pulled a goal back at the stroke of full time, but it was too little, too late to stop a Lillestrom victory party.
