Shrewd coach Abdu Maikaba has made history after leading Wikki Tourists to play international football next year at the second time of asking.
Despite operating a shoe-string budget, Wikki leap frogged FC IfeanyiUbah on the final day of the season Sunday when they defeated Sunshine Stars 2-0 at home to finish in third place on 57 points.
IfeanyiUbah lost 1-0 at 10-man MFM FC to finish on 56 points.
Last season, they failed to qualify for the Confederation Cup after they were pipped by Nasarawa United on goals difference.
Wikki also produced the season’s Goal King, Godwin Obaje, who scored 18 goals.
Maikaba, who has handled Enyimba, Kano Pillars and FC Abuja, and several of his key stars will certainly be much sought after for the new season.
