Botswana's Zebras likely to play their next game in 2017

The Zebras may have played their last game in 2016 as they are unlikely to play an international friendly during the next FIFA week.

This has been confirmed by the Botswana Football Association (BFA)'s chief executive officer Kitso Kemoeng when speaking to local media.

"There are two main factors; the league
and resources. Do we have enough resources and is this (Zebras) our focus at the moment? So we need to look at these factors first,” Kemoeng said.

The Zebras' last match was a friendly game against Angola during Botswana's 50th Independence day late last month. They beat Palancas Negras on penalties.

Peter Butler's men were beaten 2-1 by Burkina Faso in their last competitive game which was the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier early last month.

There will be an international FIFA week between the 7th and 14th of November 2016. This means the Zebras could only return to action next year March.
