Nigeria U23 defender Segun Oduduwa is now set to soon be operated on in Qatar after he suffered knee injury before the Rio Olympics.
Oduduwa, believed to be the best defender of the Olympic team, suffered a training ground injury, which ruled him of the Olympics.
He was expected to be operated on immediately after he was flown out to Qatar, but by then the leg had begun to heal and another complication was discovered to do with his nerves.
“Segun will soon be operated on, it will be two surgeries – the main surgery for the knee and another to do with a nerve around the leg,” a top source informed.
“By the time he flew into Qatar, the injury had already begun to heal not properly and now means it has to be corrected from the scratch.”
The central defender from Nath Boys of Lagos was a key star as Nigeria won the U23 AFCON in Senegal in December.
