Coach Abdu Maikaba did not deceive Wikki Tourists before he opted to join Akwa United, according to Wikki chairman Isa Matori.
Maikaba has agreed a two-year contract with Akwa United and he is expected to be officially unveiled on Wednesday.
There have been suggestions that the highly-rated coach did not carry his former club with his decision to quit.
But Wikki chairman Matori has quickly debunked such insinuations.
“We were very much aware of his intention to change environment immediately after the conclusion of the league,” disclosed Matori.
“He did not make it official then because he was not sure if the agreement with his employers will be sealed.
“Now that he has concluded agreement with Akwa United, he has officially submitted his letter of resignation and the management gladly accepted it and wished him well.
“Wikki sincerely appreciate the fact that coach Maikaba served us for two seasons without any problems.”
