Former Nigeria U17 defender John Lazarus will this weekend fly out to Portuguese club Boavista on trials.
The stocky right fullback, who played a key role as Nigeria won a record fifth FIFA U17 World Cup last November in Chile, has been courted by several overseas clubs.
“He will leave for Boavista latest by the weekend. All his travel documents have been sorted,” his agent informed.
“It’s a big chance for the youngster and we hope he comes good there.”
The Abuja-born Lazarus, who was 18 in June, featured in all seven matches as Nigeria were again crowned world champions last year.
He was also part of the ill-fated Flying Eagles, who failed to qualify for next year’s U20 AFCON in Zambia.
