Georges Leekens will fly into Algiers today to sign a contract as new coach of Nigeria's World Cup rivals Algeria.
It will be his second spell with Algeria having also worked with the North Africans for six months in 2003.
According to Algeria national radio, the 67-year-old Leekens has agreed a deal with the Algeria Football Federation (FAF).
Just hours earlier, Leekens quit Belgian club Lokeren by mutual consent.
This also followed a breakdown in talks with Leekens’ compatriot and former deputy Marc Wilmots, who now has a very bad relationship with his former boss.
He also handled Tunisia at the 2015 AFCON in Equatorial Guinea.
He has twice being in charge of his country’s team, the Red Devils of Belgium, with the last stint being between 2010 and 2012.
