Uyo Stadium pitch gets Super Eagles pass mark

The Super Eagles have approved the pitch of the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo ahead of tomorrow’s World Cup qualifier against Algeria.Eagles coach Gernot Rohr and several players complained about the state of the pitch after a 1-0 win over Tanzania in September.
However, Eagles assistant coach Imama Amapakabo said there has been remarkable improvement to the turf since the game against Tanzania.
“The pitch is in a lot better condition, a big improvement from the last time we played Tanzania here,” said Imama.
Israel-based midfielder John Ogu also commended the condition of the pitch.
The Akwa Ibom State Government has assured the pitch will be worked on for Saturday’s game and there were several inspection visits including one with officials from the Algeria Football Federation (FAF) led by their vice-president.
