Pierre Lechantre has been dismissed from his post as Congo's coach following their poor start to the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.

The Congo FA confirmed on Tuesday that they have parted ways with the Frenchman, just thee days after their loss to Uganda in a 2018 qualifier.

The Red Devils find themselves placed last in Group E, having also lost to Egypt at home last month.

Lechantre was appointed last January following the departure of Claude Leroy and he failed in his first task of trying to secure a place at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.

The 66-year-old managed just one competitive victory in his time with Congo, a win over minnows Guinea-Bissau in the final round of AFCON qualifiers.

Congo will face Ghana in a double header in the 2018 qualifiers in August and September next year.
