We can reveal that Nigeria international Aaron Samuel was personally scouted by former England manager Sven Goran Eriksson to move to China from Norway.
In 2014, Samuel moved from Norwegian club Sarpsborg 08 to Chinese club Guangzhou R&F.
The player’s agent Atta Aneke gave a full insight to how the former Shooting Stars and Dolphins star moved to China.
“Aaron was playing for Sarpsborg in Norway. I was trying to convince several clubs to sign him, but they were taking their time. And he really wanted to move, but at that time no club were willing to pay the asking price by Sarpsborg,” recounted Atta Aneke.
“So, when a respected coach like Sven Goran Erikson came to Norway, watched him and then sat down with me and him and convinced us. He took that move.
“He got another chance to return to Europe with CSKA Moscow.
“Right now he is contemplating whether to rejoin CSKA later next year or stay at his club in China because he is actually quite happy in China.
“Life is good there and it offers you financial stability.”
