Sweden-based midfielder Rita Chikwelu will captain Nigeria’s Super Falcons at the 2016 women’s AFCON in Cameroon.

Chikwelu has replaced Evelyn Nwabuoku, who has been left out of the squad to Cameroon due to injury.

Twenty-eight-year-old midfielder Chikwelu has been a senior international since 2007.

Defending champions Nigeria will begin their title defence on Sunday against Mali.

Kenya and Ghana are the other teams in their qualifying group.

Nigeria’s Falcons beat Cameroon 2-0 to win the championship two years ago in Namibia.
