Lobi Stars striker Anthony Okpotu is set to add to the fire power being assembled at Akwa United as coach Abdu Maikaba has already signed Ibrahim Alhassan ‘Muazam’, Musa Najare and Christian Pyagbara.
Okpotu, who has played in Libya and only recently returned from trials in Norway, is expected to join Akwa United at the pre-season training camp in Calabar.
The experienced striker was Lobi Stars leading scorer last season with 14 goals.
In the meantime, Akwa United have arrived Calabar.
The team got into the coastal town Sunday afternoon by 2pm with 36 players.
According to the chief coach, the team have not closed the door to recruiting other good players.
“If we have a good player who is better than the one on ground, we don't have a choice than to go for that player,” said coach Aliu Zakari.
“We are all working together to ensure we have the best pre-season training. We are not going for players with big names, we are recruiting those who can contribute to Akwa United.”
