Ten-man Rivers United outclassed FC IfeanyiUbah 2-0 to return to top reckoning in the NPFL Super 4, just as Rangers and Wikki Tourists drew goalless on the second day of action.
Rangers thus remained top of the pre-season tournament with four points, ahead of Wikki, who also have four points but with an inferior goals difference.
Rivers are third on three points, while are bottom of the standings without any points.
On Sunday, Rivers United take on Wikki and Rangers battle IfeanyiUbah to round up the tournament.
Former Niger Tornadoes striker Lookman Mohammed shot Rivers United in front against IfeanyiUbah after just 11 minutes.
The Port Harcourt club doubled their lead on 69 minutes through Gabriel Wassa.
Rivers United were reduced to 10 men in the 57th
minute when Ayobami Aseokunowo was sent off after his second booking.
But despite their numerical disadvantage, Rivers dominated proceedings and could have won by a bigger margin.
In the first game of the day, a second-string Rangers team were held by Wikki, who maintained virtually the same team who upstaged IfeanyiUbah on the opening day.
