Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) international Britt Assombalonga has turned down the opportunity to represent his country next month.
The Leopards of Congo are set to participate in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals in Gabon next month and they are in Group C.
The frontman recently revealed to the British media that he rejected the chance to turn out for DRC during Africa's prestigious competition.
Assombalonga stated that it was because he wanted to "focus on playing games" with his club Nottingham Forest, who campaign in the English Championship.
The centre forward returned to action for Forest towards the end of last season following an injury-hit spell over the last 18 months.
The former Watford FC forward has done done very well for Forest this season - netted six goals in nine league appearances for Forest this season.
Florent Ibenge, the DRC head coach, will also be without Everton FC winger Yannick Bolaise, who is out nursing an injury at his English club.
