Zamalek coach Mohamed Helmy has announced a 20-man squad for the Cairo derby clash against Al Ahly in the Egyptian Premier League.

The Cairo giants will meet on Thursday night before a lengthy break due to Egypt’s participation in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.

Osama Ibrahim missed out on the White Castle’s squad after receiving his third yellow card in his side’s 2-0 win over Sharkia, while Emmanuel Mayuka was excluded due to injury.

Meanwhile, the squad saw the return of important players such as Ali Gabr and Tarek Hamed after they missed the Sharkia game due to suspension.

Ayman Hefny, who was left out of the previous game’s squad due to injury, was also included.

Zamalek, who have played two games less than league leaders Al Ahly, are currently third on 34 points.

A win over Al Ahly would move Zamalek into second place on the table and reduce the eight-point gap with the Red Devils at the top of the league.
