GHANASoccernet.com has reported that Bruce has pleaded with the Ghana FA to keep their player for Villa’s big Championship away match against Cardiff City on January 2 which is the same day Ghana’s camp in UAE opens.

The Ghana FA have yet to respond to Bruce’s request. Per the regulations, clubs are amended to release players 14 days prior to the start of the competition.

Ayew has already been excused from Ghana’s non-residential training in Accra because of club commitment.

Afcon 2017 is set to start on January 14, but Ghana’s first game is only on January 17 against Uganda.

Ghana are in Group D alongside Egypt, Mali and Uganda.
