Information coming from Zambia is that Zambian international and TP Mazembe midfielder Rainford Kalaba has extended his stay at the Democratic Republic of Congo giants.

The club reports that Kalaba will stay put with the Ravens for another two years and is delighted to remain at the Lubumbashi-based side.

On the other hand, Chipolopolo midfielder Nathan Sinkala has also extended his contract with TP for the same number of years.

According to a statement posted on the club’s website, the deals will run until December 31, 2018.

Kalaba helped the club to the 2016 Confederation Cup and was a top scorer in the continent’s second tier competition with eight goals.

The Zambian skipper also netted 13 goals for Mazembe in the national league before the Government halted it due to political unrest in the Central African nation.

“With the TPM, I have had my best season winning the trophy (Confederation Cup) that was missing in the team’s cabinet,” said Kalaba.

“I feel very proud. But I could not have done it without my team-mates, who helped me finish as top scorer in the competition.”

Having joined Mazembe in 2010, Kalaba is also in the running for the 2016 CAF African player-of-the-year award for players plying their trade on the continent.

He will be up against South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Denis Onyango and midfielder Khama Biliat for the award.

The Awards will be staged in Nigeria, Abuja on Friday, 05 January 2017.
