English Premier League (EPL) giants Manchester United have insisted that they won't be buying a temporary replacement for Eric Bailly.

The central defender is part of the Ivory Coast squad that will participate in the upcoming 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals in Gabon.

United manager and head coach Jose Mourinho stated that they won't be buying a central defender during the current Transfer Window.

"No, I wait for Bailly. I hope the three [Chris Smalling, Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo] can control the situation in those eight matches," Mourinho told the reporters.

"I will try to rest one in every game. On Saturday, I will rest one [against Reading in the FA Cup], against Hull [in the EFL Cup on Tuesday] another -- and we'll try to make a rotation between these three.

"We still have Daley Blind as the fourth defender in case we need him to play there and we also have Michael Carrick, so let's try."

Bailly missed United's 4-0 win over English Championship outfit Reading FC over at the Old Trafford Stadium in Manchester on Saturday.

The 22-year-old's Ivory Coast, who are the defending AFCON champions, are in Group C along with Togo, Morocco and Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

The prestigious continental tournament will run from January 14 to February 5 in Gabon.
