Former Africa Footballer of the Year Emmanuel Amuneke is acting as a television pundit for AFCON 2017 in Doha, Qatar.
The former Nigeria U20 coach, who won AFCON 1994 with Nigeria, is working with Bein Sports TV for the African championship being staged in Gabon.
Amuneke said he would have wished Nigeria had qualified for AFCON 2017, but hopes the Super Eagles will be at the next tournament in Cameroon in 2019.
“It’s not such a good feeling that my country of birth is not at the AFCON again,” said Amuneke, who assisted Samson Siasia for the crucial AFCON 2017 double header qualifier against Egypt in March.
“It’s a bitter experience, but we can make up for this by qualifying and doing well at the next AFCON.”
Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr is also a TV pundit at the AFCON in Gabon.
