The hosts were the better team in the first 45 minutes of play as the first half ended in a barren draw.
On resumption of second half, the away team surged forward with the goalkeeper of Katsina United Yinka David, who was on holidays in the first half, called to duty on four occasions with in the space of 10 minutes into the second half but his reflex and good timing of the ball were what the hosts needed to remain in contest.
Nasarawa United seemed to have settled for a draw, but the hosts showed great grit as they tried and succeeded in getting a goal for a much-needed three points.

Immediately after the goal, the visitors came out from their shell in search of the equaliser as ageless Ado Ali of Katsina United did a yoman job in the defence of the hosts.
