Anichebe’s injury troubles are well documented and have limited his huge potentials in this game.
In the off-season he underwent a punishing regimen in Los Angeles to help him stay clear of injuries.
The big striker suffered his latest injury during the weekend’s 2-0 reverse at former club West Bromwich Albion, who released him at the end of his contract last season.
Before the injury, he scored three goals in a dozen appearances for struggling Sunderland.
An impressed Sunderland boss David Moyes will go on to describe him as a younger version of the legendary Didier Drogba.
The 28-year Anichebe is now expected to miss Premier League matches against Tottenham, Crystal Palace, Southampton, Everton, Manchester City, Middlesbrough, Burnley, Watford and Leicester City.
