Plateau United consolidated their leadership of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) after they beat El Kanemi Warriors 2-0 in Jos today.

The Jos club now have 17 points from seven matches, four points clear of nearest rivals MFM FC.

Plateau went in front after 12 minutes when Benin international defender Junior Salomon headed home from a long throw-in.

They doubled their advantage in spectacular fashion when Jimmy Ambrose let fly from 35 yards a minute to the interval.

Niger Tornadoes extended their fine run away from home when they pipped hosts Remo Stars 1-0 in Sagamu with Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr watching from the stands.

Chidiebere Ajoku was the match winner for the Minna outfit after 21 minutes.

Gombe United stopped Nasarawa United 1-0 thanks to man-of-the-match Austine Oladapo, while Abia Warriors and Sunshine Stars played out a 1-1 draw in Umuahia.

There will be two matches tomorrow – Enyimba welcome Akwa United and ABS FC host MFM FC in Ilorin.
