Paul Onobi in line for his Abia Warriors debut after stint in Finland

Super Eagles Paul Onobi, who recently returned from a stint in Finland, is now in line to debut for Abia warriors at home against El Kanemi on Sunday after some impressive displays in training, officials said.
Onobi joined Abia Warriors on January 9, 2017, on what the club then described as 'short deal' following the expiration of his one-year deal with KuPS of Finland.
The 24-year-old has not tasted action in the 2016/2017 domestic top flight, but the visit of El Kanemi Warriors will now provide the CHAN 2016 home-based Super Eagles defensive midfielder opportunity to wear the all-red colours of the Umuahia side.
"There could be changes in our squad who lost 3-1 at Nasarawa United. And Paul Onobi is one of the new faces that would be listed in the matchday starting line-up", the official said.
"He has done so much in training since we came back from the Nasarawa United match and when a player so impresses consistently in training going into a match, it is only normal he gets a chance to play."
Abia Warriors have two other defensive midfielders who have been in the thick of things in the last eight games, but it is understood the coaches will hand Onobi a role to play in front of the pair of Emeka Isaac and Shedrack Asiegbu in an all-combative approach.
Obi Sampson, a rookie snapped from Delta Force, could also be handed his debut on Sunday by coach Okey Emordi.
