Guinea drew 1-1 with Egypt in the 2017 Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Group A game at the National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka on Wednesday afternoon.

The draw sees Egypt remain second on the Group A standings, while Guinea also stay fourth on the table.

The Young National Elephants dominated the opening stages of the game - applying pressure on the Young Pharaohs defence in search of an early goal.

Momo Yansane was unlucky not to give Guinea the lead a few minutes into the game, but his shot hit the crossbar with Egypt goalkeeper Mohamed Mostafa beaten.

Mostafa produced a magnificent save just before the half-hour mark - finger-tipping Alseny Soumah's attempt over the crossbar as Guinea continued to dominate.

However, the Young Pharaohs took the lead against the run of play with ten minutes left on the clock after a good move by the North African side.

Mostafa Abdallah received a pass from the left, before firing past Guinea goalkeeper Sekouba Camara to make it 1-0 to Egypt.

The Young National Elephants tried to push for the equalizing goal, but the Young Pharaohs held onto their lead and it was 1-0 to Egypt at half-time.

With his side struggling to penetrate the Egyptian defence, Guinea coach Mandjou Diallo decided to introduce Facinet Soumah twelve minutes into the second-half.

Guinea were in control of the game and in the 68th minute Yansane's free header was on target, but Mostafa made a great save to deny him.

Five minutes later, Guinea attacker Morlaye Sylla's attempt was cleared off the goal-line by Ahmed Mohamed as pressure mounted on the Egypt defence.

Nevertheless, Guinea did snatch a late equalizer through Yamoudou Traore, who beat Mostafa in the 80th minute to ensure that the game ended in a 1-1 draw.
