Bidvest Wits’ experienced players will be key to their hopes against Al Ahly in the CAF Champions League this weekend, according to Xola Mlambo.

The Clever Boys head to Cairo to take on the Egyptian heavyweights on Saturday in the first leg of the teams’ first round tie.

Playing away to the most successful side in Champions League history is a daunting task, but Mlambo reckons Wits have the experience in their ranks to take it all in their stride.

“We have players who have been in the game for some time; players who have faced Al Ahly before – the likes of Daine Klate, Moeneeb Josephs and Sifiso Myeni,” Mlambo told IOL.

“They have been there. They make everyone’s job easier. They have shared their experiences with all of us. It will be a good experience to go to Al Ahly and I am sure whoever will be left behind will be disappointed.”

The match is set for the Al-Salam Stadium in Cairo at 18h30 CAT.
