Senegal Joseph Koto was unimpressed by his defence's generosity in the 2017 Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final against Zambia on Sunday night.

The Young Lions of Teranga were defeated 2-0 by the tournament hosts, Zambia in the final at the National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka.

"It's a pity tonight. We gifted goals to the opponent and not realize opportunities," Koto told CAF Media.

"These are things that happen in football, especially among young players who are learning their craft.

"However, we must also congratulate Zambia who came for victory and defended well after scoring both goals," he added.

"Congratulations to Zambia and the words of encouragement to the Senegalese players who must continue to work.

"Victory will come one day but tonight I am really disappointed and it can be understood in view of the progress of the game."

Senegal, who also finished second at the 2015 U20 AFCON finals, are set to represent Africa at the 2017 Under-20 FIFA World Cup finals in South Korea.
