The Shoremen of the Red Sea of Djibouti are out to bag a win against Sudan in the first leg of their 2019 CAF Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Wednesday afternoon.

The winner of this two legged match (home and away) is set to join Group C for the remainder of the 2019 Afcon qualifiers where there is Mali, Gabon and Burundi.

Djibouti are aware that reaching the tournament in Cameroon will be one of their major achievements as they want to write their name in continental football.

The crucial encounter comes after their two friendlies against Burundi and their target is to bounce back from those defeats.

The Shoremen succumbed to a 7-0 loss as well as a 1-0 defeat and this encounter means the mission is to rectify their mistakes and claim a win.

On the other hand, the Falcons of Jediane will also hope to win this encounter and ensure they raise their hopes of reaching the group stages of the qualifiers.

South Sudan have not been a busy team in recent months having last played against Mali and Equatorial Guinea in 2016.

They lost both matches, 3-0 to the Eagles of Mali as well as a 4-0 defeat at the hands of Nzalang Nacional.

The match is set to be staged at the Stade El Hadj Hassan Gouled in Djibouti at 18:00 on Wednesday with the return leg, next Tuesday, 28 March in South Sudan.
