Comoros ran out 2-0 winners over Mauritius in the first leg of their 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at the Stade International Saïd Mohamed Cheikh in Mitsamiouli on Friday afternoon.

Mauritius received an early blow in the match with defender Emmanuel Vincent receiving a straight red card for a harsh tackle 12 minutes into the match.

The away side were on the back foot thereafter, but managed to keep the Comoros attack at bay until half time with the score locked at 0-0.

In the second half the home side upped the pressure and finally took the lead in the 69th minute courtesy of a strike from Benjaloud Youssouf.

Five minutes later Comoros doubled their lead with Chaker Alhadhur finding the back of the net to seal a 2-0 victory.

The second leg will take place next week Tuesday, 28 March at the Anjalay stadium in Belle Vue, Mapou.

The winner of the two leg tie will join Group B of the 2019 Afcon qualifiers alongside Cameroon, Morocco and Malawi.
