A brace from Michael Olunga handed Kenya a 2-1 win over the Democratic Republic of Congo in an international friendly at the Jomo Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos on Sunday.
Kenya were massive underdogs heading into the game after only managing to beat DRC twice in nine previous attempts.
Moreover, 50 places separate the two countries on the FIFA World Rankings with Kenya placed at 88 and DRC at 38.
Still, despite the overwhelming odds stacked against them Kenya managed to grab victory on Sunday in front of their home fans.
Kenya got off to the perfect start on the day with Olunga finding the back of the net in the sixth minute, 1-0.
DRC tried to find their way back into the game, but proved wasteful in front of goal as they entered the half time break trailing by a goal to nil.
The start of the second half saw DRC up the pressure as they pushed forward in search of an equaliser.
On the hour mark DRC did manage to level matters thanks to a strike from Gael Kakuta, 1-1.
Kenya, though, were not to be undone in front of their home fans and pushed forward after seeing their opening goal cancelled out.
In the 71st minute Olunga found the back of the net with a clinical finish for what proved to be the winner on the day, 2-1.
