Kenya’s head coach Stanley Okumbi has said they have to continue working hard ahead of the 2019 Total Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifier.

“We need to make sure we keep spying on our first group F opponents Sierra Leone who we face in June,” Okumbi told AfricanFootball, com.

Last week the Harambee Stars of Kenya settled for a 1-1 draw against Uganda Cranes before defeating DR Congo 2-0 on Saturday in a second international friendly match.

The coach said despite the win over DR Congo, there is room for improvement and the players have to keep working hard to earn their places on the team.

“We still need to work more, especially ensuring that we keep clean-sheets. The beauty is that we are scoring and if we can ensure we defend better, we are in for a good run,” added Okumbi whose team has had a 10-match unbeaten run now.

He said spying on Sierra Leone will need more analysis than just watching their videos.

“It will be very important to start the 2019 Afcon qualifiers with a win because it will give us good momentum,” added the coach.

The other teams in Group F for the qualifiers include the Black Stars of Ghana and Ethiopia. Kenya has not qualified for a major international tournament since the 2004 Afcon in Tunisia.
