“You cannot learn from your neighbour's failure" - that is the notion Jomo Cosmos coach and owner Dr Jomo Sono subscribes to when reacting to Moroka Swallows' plight.
The Ezenkosi boss was speaking to reporters after their Nedbank Cup last 16 win over Bidvest Wits on Tuesday night at Tsakane Stadium.
Sono says all the big clubs in South Africa are gone, as he referred to African Wanderers, Witbank Aces and the Dube Birds, who were relegated to the SAB Regional League.
Although he acknowledged such things happen to big football clubs, he said he cannot take any administrative lessons from Swallows' downfall.
“You know, if my child passes away, we usually say why my child? Why not the one from next door? It's football, it's like that,” said Sono.

“It's sad, football is like that, they are gone, African Wanderers is gone, (Witbank) Aces sold, teams will come and go, I mean we cannot cry over that, but to worry about what Cosmos is doing.
“Because Cosmos can also go there, who says Cosmos cannot go there? They can go there that's why I have to focus on Cosmos for now – it's a shame, but all big teams go there.
“I wouldn't know about their administrative shortcomings or lessons because I don't know what was happening there.
“I can't learn anything from their failures, your only learn from your failures. You can't really learn from your neighbours.
“Because when they switch off their lights and come back in the morning driving a Porsche, so you can't compete with your neighbour.”
Speaking about their progress in the Ke Yona competition, Sono adds that Ezenkosi are not a lower division side as he is experienced in the top tier.
“We are not a lower side, Wits played against a former Premiership team, yes if you mean KwaDukuza (United), these are the lower teams, not us,” adds Sono.
“There is no difference us and the premier sides or league , the only thing could be the monthly grant - in football there is no difference.
“If God allows me to reach the semifinals, then I can tell you that we will reach the finals, for now I cant say where we will end up.”
