The Botswana Football Association (BFA) have confirmed that English tactician Peter Butler has been offered a three-month contract extension.

Botswana senior national team head coach Butler's contract expired on the 31st of March 2017 and he was asked to hold fort for three months.

BFA public relations officer Tumo Mpatane says this was done "to allow for the conclusion of the recruitment process.”

“Remember the post was advertised and we have to allow the recruitment process to be fulfilled," he added.

"I can’t disclose who applied. All I can say is that we are happy that Butler accepted the extension."

The Zebras of Botswana are scheduled to participate in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers which will start in June 2017.

Last year's COSAFA Cup finalists will also take on South Africa in the African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers in July 2017.
