Schalke 04 midfielder Nabil Bentaleb says their new head coach Markus Weinzierl gives them freedom of expression on the pitch.
Weinzierl was appointed head coach of the German Bundesliga club replacing André Breitenreiter prior to the current season.
Algeria international Bentaleb says the German tactician shows believe in his own players.
"As a team, he tells us to be strong defensively and not be passive – to defend moving forward," Bentaleb told UEFA.com.
"It's a pretty attacking style of play. From a personal point of view, he just tells me: "Be strong defensively, and just be free when you go forward."
"He's giving us that freedom, that creativity to go and create something for the team. And it shows he believes in us."
Bentaleb has made 26 German Bundesliga appearances under Weinzieri this season - netting five goals in the process.
