Eintracht Frankfurt defender David Abraham's plan to stop in-form forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from scoring failed over the weekend.

Prior to Frankfurt's German Bundesliga clash with Borussia Dortmund, Abraham discussed how to defend against Gabon international Aubameyang.

However, the lethal forward was unstoppable as he scored once as Dortmund thrashed Frankfurt 3-1 at the Signal-Iduna-Park on Sunday afternoon.

Aubameyang scored with only four minutes left on the clock, with Abraham, who hails from Argentina, playing the entire league encounter.

“When Aubameyang sprints and has space, you have to retreat and try to push him off," Abraham had told Bundesliga.com.

"You have to force him to push the ball far so in front of himself that he loses control and one of your teammates can nip in.

"If you make a wrong step there’s no way you can catch him.”

Aubameyang has remarkably hit the back of the net 26 times for Dortmund from 27 German Bundesliga matches in the current 2016/17 campaign.

The 27-year-old frontman is also the joint Bundesliga top goalscorer with Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski, who has also scored 26 goals.
