Winning the CAF Champions League remains Al Ahly’s primary objective, according to manager Hossam El Badry.
The Red Devils coach told ON TV, as quoted by KingFut, that they aim to win every competition, but the continental tournament takes precedence.
“Al Ahly’s objectives don’t change from season to season. The objective is always to win every competition we take part in,” El Badry explained.
“This is always our goal, but of course, the African competition is our biggest goal.”
He added, “I spoke to [Al Ahly President] Mahmoud Taher about areas of support and strengthening.
“In every conversation we have, we tend to diverge and speak about the CAF Champions League because it is the biggest goal, and I hope we can achieve that goal.”
Al Ahly will find out their group stage opponents for the 2017 CAF Champions League next week, with the draw to divide the 16 qualified teams into four pools set to be conducted at CAF’s headquarters in Cairo.
The Red Devils are currently on course to win the Egyptian Premier League title, as they hold a 10-point lead over second-placed Misr El-Maqassa.
“I’m very happy with the spirit that is present among the players, those who start the matches and those who do not. The competition for every position is high and its is very positive and beneficial,” El Badry continued.
“Every player on the squad list is ready and capable to play, there is just minor differences, and we always try to prepare everyone.
“Many of our youth products will get a chance to play in the upcoming period if everything goes as planned,” he added.
