Sports Club Villa are out of contention for the Azam Uganda Premier League title after they lost 1-0 to lowly placed Kirinya Jinja SSS FC at the Kakindu Stadium on Tuesday.
Although SC Villa remain top of the log with 47 points from 25 games, defending champions KCCA FC are a point behind and with four games in hand.
The 10-man Kirinya Jinja SSS FC netted a penalty through Bashir Mutanda. The home side was reduced by one player after George Senkaaba received marching orders after 75 minutes.
Not even the presence of striker Emmanuel Okwi helped SC Villa as they searched for goals, but the Kirinya Jinja SSS FC defended in numbers.
The win pushed the Jinja based side to 11th place as they are fighting to avoid relegation to the second Division.
At Mandela National Stadium, Namboole, Police FC settled for a barren draw against Bright Stars FC. The two sides played attacking football, but lacked the final finishing touch.
The third match of the day failed to take place at the Wankulukuku Stadium after visiting JMC FC failed to make it.
The League Committee is expected to meet before the end of the week to decide on whether Express FC should be awarded the three points.
